Join us for the Mayor's Christmas Tree Lighting on December 1
All are invited to a free family holiday event, the City of Blue Springs’ 2009 Annual Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Tuesday, December 1,2009.

The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will take place outside City Hall (903 W. Main Street) in downtown Blue Springs, Missouri.

“This is a special event that draws hundreds of children and families to downtown Blue Springs for a unique holiday experience. It’s a wonderful tradition in our community, and a great way in which to celebrate the closeness and the sprit of giving that exists within our city” said Mayor Carson Ross.

Pete Grigsby, former television meteorologist from KMBC Channel 9 will join Mayor Ross as Master of Ceremonies. Grigsby will broadcast live from downtown Blue Springs at the top of the 6:00 p.m. newscast, with the countdown to the tree lighting and a holiday fireworks display taking place live on Channel 9 between 6:15 and 6:20 p.m.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive by fire truck immediately after the tree lighting. There will also be hot dogs, cookies, hot chocolate and candy canes provided – all donated by the two Price Chopper stores of Blue Springs.

This year’s concert is sponsored by the Blue Springs Business Association and the Main Street Merchant Committee. Scheduled to perform during the program are student choirs from local elementary and middle schools, an adult chorus from a local church and a local performing arts academy.
