Missouri license plates must be renewed during the expiration month or before. You can renew them up to 6-months early. Renewal notices are mailed prior to the plate’s expiration month.
To renew your license plates, you will need:
A Vehicle Registration Renewal notice and/or last year's registration
A Missouri safety inspection and/or emissions inspection certificate not more than 60 days old, if applicable; (odd model vehicles need an inspection in an odd year, and even model vehicles need an inspection in an even year)
An original paid personal property tax receipt or a statement of non-assessment from your county of residence for the previous year for a one-year registration. If the registration you are renewing was a two-year registration, tax receipts or statements from the prior two years must be submitted
