To conduct business in the City of Blue Springs you must have a City issued Business License, a City of Blue Springs Certificate of Occupancy, and if your business includes retail sales, you must also have a State of Missouri Sales Tax Number.

Business Licenses are issued by the Revenue Collections Division of the Finance Department with approval from Code Enforcement. From the time a business license application is filed it takes approximately 10 business days to process the application and issue a license.

Applicants must provide the following to the Revenue Collections Division in order to begin processing a Business License:

Business Licenses are good for one year and expire on the last day of February of each year.

According to Section 605.020 of the Municipal Code the fee for a Business License in the City of Blue Springs is $35 per business plus $2 per employee.
